SAT-Series 1064nm optimised APD

LASER COMPONENTS has announced its SAT-Series 1064nm optimised APD for low-light applications.

LASER COMPONENTS have been manufacturing avalanche photodiodes (APDs) in Arizona, USA for 20 years. The detectors are based on a reach-through structure that allows for improved sensitivity and lower noise, making them perfect for very low-light applications.

Its SAT-series APDs have been designed specifically with sensitivity optimised for the near IR. This design offers significantly higher quantum efficiency at 1064nm compared to our standard SAR-series APD. For this reason, you can expect a responsivity of up to 60% higher at 1064nm.

Typical applications for this detector are LiDAR and range finding. Lastly, we are delighted to announce that the standard SAT-series components now carry an EAR99 classification. This generally makes export compliance simpler for defence and military applications.
