LED lighting is emerging as an important component of Boston’s efforts to reduce energy costs, shrink our carbon footprint and help meet Mayor Menino’s energy goals, said Bryan Glascock, Environment Commissioner for the City of Boston. The high pressure sodium lighting we had in our municipal lot here in Jamaica Plain looked pretty dated and didn’t cover the lot well. The shadowed areas along with the strong orange hue made for a surreal scene at night. But these new LED cobra heads are sleek looking and provide even light levels across the parking lot without shadows, colors aren’t washed out, you’d think the lot was brand new. We thank Everlight for provding these LED streetlights for our Jamaica Plain demonstration site.
In addition to greatly reduced energy consumption and zero maintenance costs which Everlight LED street lighting technology brings to municipal budgets, other technological advantages include:
– Pollution Free/RoHS compliance (no Mercury, lead, or other hazardous
components).
– Shock, vibration, and impact resistance (no arc, tube, or glass to
break).
– Solid State device with silent operation (no filament to burn-out).
– Fast response time: Instant on with no re-strike delay (no flicker).
– Instant on in hot and cold weather.
– Better color rendering shows true colors of the objects lit (cars,
clothing, etc.), improving security.
The SL-Dolphin is part of the growing portfolio of lighting modules from Everlight. Other typical applications include fluorescent replacement in office lighting environments as well as landscape accent/spot and architectural lighting, display case accent, flood, mood, biological and general lighting.
