The ADC offers four analogue inputs with an input multiplexer that accepts either two differential or three single-ended input measurements.
The integrated low-noise PGA provides gain settings from 1 to 64, and the selectable input buffer increases input impedance, helping to reduce the need for external buffers.
The ADC boasts programmable sample rates of up to 30ksps and high DC performance, with offset drift of just 4nV/°C. The ADS1257 can operate from either a single 5V analogue supply, or 1.8V – 3.6V digital supply.
The ADS1257 communicates digital data over a three-wire SPI-compatible interface to simplify digital connections with external controllers. It is suitable for factory automation, instrumentation and process controls, test and measurement equipment, and medical electronics.
OPerating from -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, the ADC is supported by the ADS1256EVM-PDK Performance Demonstration Kit, also available from Mouser Electronics. The kit combines an ADS1256EVM evaluation module with a DSP-based MMB0 motherboard, allowing developers to connect the evaluation module to a personal computer to test new designs.
