IQD Frequency Products has today announced the introduction of one of the world’s smallest quartz crystals, the IQXC-42. Ideally suited for portable applications such as hand held inventory control devices, battery powered telemetry equipment, notebook computers and surveillance devices, the IQXC-42 measures just 2.0 x 1.6mm with a height of only 0.5mm.

Frequency stabilities can be specified as low as ±10ppm over the commercial temperature ranges and, to meet the requirements of the latest generation of microprocessors, the load capacitance can be as low as 8pF. Available in frequencies between 20MHz and 50MHz, the IQXC-42 crystal operates over the full industrial temperature range of -40 to +85C.

The IQXC-42 is housed in a 4-pad ceramic package with a hermetically sealed metal lid, helping to minimise the EMI radiation. In accordance with IEC 60068-2-27, the new crystal is designed to withstand shock levels of up to 1000G.

The IQXC-42 is available on tape and reel for automatic assembly as well as loose in bulk pack for low volume prototypes.

Key features:

  • Standard 2.0 mm x 1.6 mm x 0.5 mm SMD crystal,
  • 20.0 to 50.0MHz frequency range,
  • ±10.00ppm to ±100.00ppm frequency stability,
  • ±10ppm to ±100ppm frequency tolerance,
  • 8.0pF to 30.0pF load capacitance,
  • -40 to +85C full industrial temperature range,
  • Withstands shock levels of up to 1000G - IEC 60068-2-27.
