Used to reduce the amplitude of an electronic signature, a range of compact hot-switchable variable attenuators has been announced by Fairview Microwave. Available in 3GHz and 6 GHz models, the RF attenuators offer several different connector configurations including SMA and N type connectors with side or rear mount positions.

Several of the attenuators are hot-switchable, meaning attenuation can be changed on the fly without powering down the system. This allows for test data to be read continuously. Several models with varying attenuation adjustments are available including 0dB to 12 dB attenuation in 1 dB steps, and 0 to 40 dB attenuation in 10 dB steps. Other options are also available to designers. The attenuators also provide low attenuation tolerance and low insertion loss.

“Our new lines of hot-switchable variable attenuators provide engineers the flexibility to adjust and customize the RF performance of their distributed systems while the system is live”, commented Greg Arnold, Technical Sales Manager for Fairview Microwave. “This adds an invaluable tool to the arsenal of components available to engineers for efficiently optimizing their DAS, multi-element antenna arrays or any multi-channel system requiring individual amplitude adjustment.”

The range of hot-switchable variable attenuators are in-stock and available to ship today.
