Explains Robert Watson, Marketing Co-ordinator at Devlin: “For 30 years, Devlin has been delivering bespoke keyboards. Now we have invested in tooling so that we can produce customised keytops that fit the Cherry keyswitches – especially on the SPOS retail keyboard range. This means that system builders can have exactly the layout and graphical look they want – keys can be coloured, laser etched, engraved to suit the design.”
For customers operating in the Retail sector, this means that special function keys – for handling refunds or voucher purchases, for example – can feature their own icon. Although Cherry keyboards are programmable using Cherry’s simple-to-use software, Devlin will also undertake any individual requests for firmware or software programming.
Comments Cherry’s UK General Sales Manager, Michael Groom: “Devlin are offering a real value-added service for customers. Their approach is to work with customers to understand the nature of their business and then to deliver the right solution.”
Adds Watson: “Cherry keyboards are very highly regarded for quality, reliability and functionality. We would not look at some of the cheap alternatives you can source in the Far East because they are nowhere near the quality level we require for our customers. With the investment we have made in mould tools and etching/engraving equipment, system designers are no longer to a restricted choice – they can have what they want.”
