Pebble Bay has announced that it has ported the SQLite database library to the Green Hills INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS). This is a commercial-grade implementation of SQLite running on INTEGRITY that has been validated using the rigorous TH3 test suite which runs tens of thousands of test cases, built on years of SQLite test experience, to produce a robust product suitable for use in the most demanding embedded applications.
SQLite is an open source version of the industry-standard SQL relational database language. Its simplicity and compact size make it ideal for embedded applications. It is the most widely-deployed SQL database engine in the world, and is used in the Apple Mac, the Symbian operating system, the Firefox web browser, and software by Adobe, Google, McAfee, Skype and many others.

The availability of this SQLite port, developed, tested and supported by Pebble Bay now extends this popular database engine to a wide range of INTEGRITY-based devices. commented Christopher Smith, vice president of marketing, Green Hills Software, Inc. As independent consultants, Pebble Bay are an asset to the INTEGRITY partner ecosystem.

Porting SQLite to the INTEGRITY operating system will further broaden its appeal as a database in embedded applications, said D. Richard Hipp, creator of SQLite. Pebble Bay did an excellent job, demonstrating their understanding of embedded databases and their ability to work with middleware.

We're pleased that we have been able to use our considerable skill and experience in embedded systems development to make SQLite available for even more applications, especially those that have high reliability and performance requirements, said John Efstathiades, Project Manager at Pebble Bay.
