Kontron has announced its new high-quality Mini-ITX motherboard for embedded applications, the Kontron KTQM77/mITX, featuring the Intel QM77 Express Chipset and 3rd generation Intel Core processors. It surpasses previous designs based on the 2nd Generation Intel Core processors with up to 20% enhanced computing power and 50% higher graphics performance.
It is therefore not only the highest performing Mini-ITX motherboard in the Kontron series, but, additionally, Kontron has integrated a range of interfaces which differentiates it from typical commercial motherboards. It also includes the latest serial I/O performance such as PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.0. With long-term availability and support for up to three independent displays, it provides everything to build a broad array of future-oriented, rich media embedded applications on a single compact Mini-ITX form factor, making it an ideal fit for markets such as digital signage, gaming, kiosk/POS, industrial automation and medical imaging.

The new Kontron KTQM77/mITX provides OEMs and developers with a scalable performance range from the price-optimized, dual-core Intel Celeron processor up to the quad-core 3rd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 3.5 GHz (in Turbo Mode) for highest performance. For graphics-intensive applications such as gaming and digital signage, the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics features twice the HD media and 3D graphics performance compared to its predecessor. Owing to the DirectX 11, OpenGL 3.1 and OpenCL 1.1 support, developers can now also use the latest APIs to enable an immersive user experience with stunning visuals while at the same time accelerating their software application design.

Even multi-screen applications with simultaneous presentations on three independent displays are possible without the need for a dedicated graphics controller. Especially connected devices benefit from the integrated Intel AMT 8.0 technology, which simplifies system maintenance, for higher availability and lower overall costs. Finally, the embedded feature connector which is implemented, supporting up to 160 GPIO, analog-to-digital converter and digital-to-analog converter, minimizes the need for individual I/O boards and thus reduces the bill of material and development time.

The Kontron embedded Mini-ITX motherboard KTQM77/mITX is based on the Intel QM77 Express chipset and offers a maximum of 16 GB DDR3 RAM. It can be equipped either with dual-core or quad-core 3rd generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors with up to 2.7 GHz (3.5 GHz in Turbo) or with the price-optimized dual-core Intel Celeron processor B810 (1.6 GHz). Connections for video include 2x DisplayPort, 1x DVI-I and LVDS.

For expansion cards it features 1x Gen 3.0 PCI Express x16 and 1x Gen 2.0 PCI Express x1 slot, 4x USB 3.0, 10x USB 2.0, and 3x GbE-LAN allowing for extensive peripheral and networking options. A wide range of storage media can be connected via the 6x SATA interfaces (4x SATA150/300 and 2x SATA600) with RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality and the mSATA (mini-SATA) socket for state-of-the-art, on-board SSD. HD audio and the Trusted Platform Module 1.2 for safety-related applications top off the feature-set of the new motherboards.

Common to all Kontron embedded motherboards is their long-term availability of seven years as well as outstanding long-term stability and reliability due to the careful selection of high-quality components. Operating system support is provided for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows Embedded Standard 7, VxWorks, as well as Linux (Red Hat Enterprise, Novell SuSE Linux Enterprise, Red Flag Linux and Wind River Linux, among others).
