Encirq and Analog Devices, Inc. today announced the availability of DeviceSQL, an embedded database SDK, optimized for developing applications on the ADSP-BF548 Blackfin processor from Analog Devices. DeviceSQL is an award-winning SDK that is used to build a variety of high-speed data management functions including embedded databases, data loggers, search engines, language tables and more. It makes it easy to build extremely fast, tight, reliable code for processing and managing data in set-top box applications, portable media players, automotive infotainment systems, home entertainment systems and more. DeviceSQL is shipping in millions of consumer electronics devices with proven performance in a wide variety of applications.
Encirq began shipping DeviceSQL for Blackfin on June 1, 2008. The software has been developed and tested on the Analog Devices ADSP-BF548 EZ-KIT Lite development platform so developers can rapidly build a variety of applications using DeviceSQL with the EZ-Kit Lite platform. Products based on Blackfin and DeviceSQL technologies will feature capabilities such as simultaneous playback of media files and fast search and retrieval of audio, video and digital map metadata.

Maury Wood, Mobile Products Director of the GP-DSP Division, explains that, “Analog Devices is enjoying continued growth in the audio systems market, including vehicle-mounted and home audio equipment. We are convinced that the distinctive features of Encirq’s DeviceSQL, such as the small memory footprint and the excellent search engine features will extend our ability to meet our customers’ requirements in these areas and in many other embedded market segments. In addition, Encirq’s reputation for advanced technical assistance and support capabilities with major customers will provide a persuasive advantage in winning business.”

Ms. Deb Goslin, CEO of Encirq Corporation, comments that, “Analog Devices is continuing to expand its worldwide market share for Blackfin processors, and major players in the embedded system community are recognizing and incorporating the technological capabilities of DeviceSQL. I am confident that Encirq will find that the availability of DeviceSQL for Blackfin processors will result in a number of new and exciting opportunities. We expect to highlight this product to customers in markets around the world as part of our new business strategy.”

The ADSP-BF548 EZ-KIT Lite provides developers with a cost-efficient development platform for BF54x Blackfin processors thanks to a USB-based, PC-hosted tool set. In addition to the desktop development hardware, this product includes a set of VisualDSP++ development and debugging environment tools, including a C/C++ compiler, assembler and linker.
