Focus EDL, the leading distributor of components for industrial computing and automation, announces the TiBBO EM1202 basic programmable Ethernet module that will interest designers and systems integrators looking to introduce or expand Ethernet networks in industrial applications.
TiBBO is recognized as the leading manufacturer of hardware and software products designed to provide users with the ability to network-enable any serial device. As a result customers of all sizes who need to connect serial devices can take advantage of the speed and cost benefits of Ethernet-based networks by using TiBBO’s external, board-level or Ethernet-to-serial board products.

The new EM1202 is a third-generation TiBBO Ethernet module built exclusively for use with the company’s rapid Basic programming solution called TAIKO.

Despite its compact size, just 17x19x14.6mm, the EM1202 features four serial ports, 32 general-purpose I/O lines, and a 512K/1024K flash disk. In addition, the new module incorporates a 100BaseT Ethernet port, an 88MHz CPU and will work with any standard RJ45 socket and 100BaseT magnetics.

To make it easy for existing customers to upgrade from earlier, less powerful devices, Focus EDL has also made available TiBBO’s RJ1202 companion Ethernet connector. When used with the EM1202, the RJ1202/EM1202 combination has the exact physical dimensions of the earlier EM202 device. This allows users an easy upgrade from the EM202 to the EM1202/RJ1202 combination with no change to an existing product’s PCB layout or external housing.
