Petronics Electronica Assemblage, a fast-growing Dutch electronics assembly subcontractor, has added in-house SMT capabilities to its range of services by purchasing a pre-owned MY12 component placement machine from MYDATA.

Since all MYDATA machines are built with long life and effective future proofing in mind, this second-user MY12, which has been fully overhauled by MYDATA and upgraded with the latest compatible operating software, will give Petronics many of the benefits of the latest machines, including the ability to handle a very wide range of component types, at a substantial cost saving compared with purchasing a brand new machine.

Petronics will also benefit from the extensive range of support and training services offered by MYDATA to help users get the best from their SMT investment, as these services are available to all users of MYDATA equipment, irrespective of whether the equipment was purchased new or used.

The MYDATA MY12 purchased by Petronics has a maximum throughput of 21,000 cph and, since it can accommodate up to 144 feeders for 8 mm tape-mounted components, it gives the company a high level of flexibility in its SMT operations. It is compatible with all component types currently in common use, including BGAs and 01002 packages.

In addition, the machine uses Agilis feeders which are well known for their ease and speed of handling, and which make possible very fast changeovers. This is an important advantage in subcontract applications, where the small batch sizes that are often encountered mean that frequent changeovers are needed.
