Redline Communications unveil its Universal Wireless Transport platform, the industry’s first and only wireless broadband network solution to operate on any frequency between 100 MHz and 6 GHz – in licensed, reserved and unlicensed bands. This frequency range encompasses virtually all wireless broadband applications – effectively delivering broadband in any available spectrum.
Redline technology already produces secure wireless networks that have the fastest speeds over the longest distances with the lowest latency, and construction that delivers rugged reliability in harsh remote environments. With the integration of UWT, Redline now brings its customers unparalleled flexibility and the fastest time to deployment for private wide area networks.

“Networks are literally the backbone of industry and commerce, used to increase the velocity of operations, guarantee workplace safety and save lives,” said Bojan Subasic, vice president of R&D for Redline Communications. “Redline believes that network architects should never sacrifice perfect for practical when designing mission critical networks, and our new wireless network platform means that all networks can be wireless, even with the most challenging circumstances. Simply put, the performance, reliability and flexibility of the Universal Wireless Transport platform means this new equipment will be the last network infrastructure product Redline customers will ever need to buy.”

For multinational companies, such as oil and gas producers where the use of different frequencies may also be required within a single oil field, Redline can now support all their international locations and frequency needs using just one product. Not only does the platform operate on key bands including 450 MHz, 600 MHz, 900 MHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 4.4 GHz and 4.9 GHz and 5.8 GHz, it can also operate on any frequency between, allowing customers to use any and all available spectrum. The UWT gives Redline customers a single secure platform from which to power the broadest range of IP applications on a single network – from “heavy” applications requiring data speeds of 100 Mbps or greater, to lighter applications such as small packet VoIP and machine-to-machine communications, without making any design sacrifices.

Redline’s common platform approach simplifies network design and reduces the time and cost of training, service and maintenance. Central to the new UWT platform are software adaptable radios that can be managed, configured and upgraded over the air. UWT can cover the widest range of distances with true broadband speeds and unmatched security. The platform’s software adaptable radios can be remotely configured for different frequency ranges, as well as point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations, capacity and now frequency.

“Software-defined networking is not only lending much-needed flexibility to wireless networks in a variety of ways – it’s also changing the economics of wireless network infrastructure,” said Ed Gubbins, senior analyst for mobile access infrastructure at Current Analysis. “Redline’s embrace of the technology allows a broad range of industries tap into the value of SDN that is also being unlocked by some of the world’s leading mobile operators.” “Available spectrum is scarce, and specific frequencies are not consistently available across the globe,” said Subasic. “While using a single frequency everywhere around the world would be easier for global enterprises, network planners must also account for different topographies, scarce availability of unlicensed spectrum, and local regulations governing the use of licensed and unlicensed spectrum. Inevitably the best network architecture will use a combination of frequencies, but until now no one vendor could offer a single platform delivering the best performance, and consistent management across a wide range of spectrum.”

UWT is a ground-up reengineering of Redline’s award-winning backhaul networking technologies designed with fewer components to reduce power consumption, making it suitable for remote locations where it can be powered using alternative energy sources such as solar. With unparalleled flexibility, scalability and reliability, UWT is fully backward compatible with all of Redline’s network systems deployed around the globe by telecom service providers, oil and gas producers, public safety agencies, governments and other private networks.
