Tilera announced today the commercial availability of software and hardware building blocks to provide scalable 100Gbps cyber security performance for cloud, carrier network, government and enterprise segments.

“Defense against cyber-attacks, the proliferation of cloud-based computing, and sponsored cyber warfare are becoming the highest priority concerns,” said Michael Zimmerman, vice president of marketing. “Rapidly evolving dynamic threats require flexible and agile solutions that deliver wire-speed processing and scale to multiple performance levels.”

Tilera has developed a compelling security portfolio, encompassing the TILE-Gx processors, the Multicore Development Environment software tool suite, and an array of powerful application building blocks that enable customer solutions. Tilera’s standards-based Linux programming environment leverages C, C++ and Java languages, enabling flexibility and considerably faster development & efficient debug compared to FPGA or ASIC-based architectures, while achieving remarkably low latency and industry-leading throughput.

The following cyber-security applications are available from Tilera, based on the 9, 16, 36 and 72-core TILE-Gx processor family:

Network Monitoring– 80Gbps of lossless export of network statistics and metadata extraction at wire speed is accomplished with the TILE-Gx72 processor. Flow data export and statistics are essential for behavioral analysis and network anomaly detection.

Packet Capture– Wire-speed capture of packets to disc (flash-based or RAID array) or to host processor with precision time-stamping, and with optional programmable flow filtering at 80Gbps enables forensic analysis of attack traffic.

Video Processing– For video surveillance, complex image manipulation, video compression and storage, the TILE-Gx processors provide the highest-density video processing combined with integrated networking and security processing. Tilera’s Medialib library accelerates time-to-market with optimized multimedia software components.

Deep Packet Inspection– Real-time, Layer 2-7 classification of network application traffic. 200Gbps of application-aware processing and metadata extraction is demonstrated with the TILExtreme platform powered by 288 TILE-Gx cores.

IDS/IPS– Suricata open source next-generation multi-threaded Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDS/IPS), optimized to 10Gbps in a single TILE-Gx36 processor. Suricata was developed by the Open Information Security Foundation which is funded and part of the Department of Homeland Security's Directorate for Science and Technology Homeland Open Security Technology program, and by the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

TCP/IP– High performance, multithreaded, user space TCP/IP stack facilitating L2-L7 network visibility is now available for all Tilera processors. Throughput scales to 40Gbps in a single TILE-Gx36 processor and 80Gbps in a single TILE-Gx72 device.

SSL– The dramatic rise in the percentage of SSL-encrypted communications has made the task of cyber-security monitoring significantly more difficult. In-line wire-speed crypto processing is essential in order to decrypt traffic for analysis and response. Tilera has demonstrated 40Gbps of SSL/TLS processing in a single TILE-Gx36 processor. Additional security processing stacks offered include IPsec and Proxy SSL.

Production Ready Hardware – Tilera offers platforms ranging from 144 to 288 cores in a 1RU appliance form factor. In addition, Tilera offers PCIe cards that range from one to eight 10Gbps ports in a single card. For OEM’s developing customized hardware, Tilera offers the TILE-Gx9, 16, 36 and 72 processors; all are software and application run-time compatible.
