e-con Systems launched the eSOM300, a Computer-on-Module based on Marvell's PXA300 processor, suitable for embedded applications requiring a combination of low power consumption and mid-range processing and GUI performance. Some of the applications where it can be used are point of sale, handheld and mobile terminals, vehicle mount systems, Kiosks, test & measurement equipment and gaming machines.
“The eSOM300 will help our customers who have been requesting us for higher memory requirements and features like graphics acceleration and USB 2.0 device interface. The PXA300 is an ideal processor for Industrial Embedded Solutions, Handheld Devices and devices such as portable navigation devices (PNDs because it scales up to 624Mhz in clock speed with power consumption as low as 1.5W and to less than 100mW in low power modes. This is one of the processor offering the best cost, performance and power consumption” said Ashok Babu, President, e-con Systems.

“With the successful launch of eSOM300, our ecosystem partner e-con Systems is bringing the power of Marvell’s hugely popular general purpose CPU PXA300, in a highly integrated, low power, small form-factor CPU module. This pluggable eSOM300 module, a new entrant in e-con’s Marvell CPU based module product line will drastically reduce the base board design complexity and thereby reducing the time-to-market for customers designing embedded products” Said Anand Ramamoorthy, General Manager, Application Processor BU, Marvell Semiconductor Inc. “Customers can leverage e-con’s vast and proven experience in Marvell’s Application processors in the form of their CPU modules and associated design services, that will eventually help Marvell’s customers to get their products based on Marvell’s PXA300 CPU fast and efficient way”, added Anand.
