Designed to provide protection for both technician and test equipment, selected plugs and jacks can be rated to 1,000 V CAT III per IEC61010-031, when properly assembled to equally rated test lead wire.
They are important for anyone that uses DMMs and other equipment with safety or sheath connectors. Each connector features a snap-together plastic housing and plated metal contact.
A unique contact design allows for the gripping of the test lead wire’s insulation, which is a requirement of IEC61010-031. To insure user protection, each plug has an insulated tip and its contact is made of beryllium copper for a long working life.
When assembled in accordance with instructions and using a rated test lead wire (Cal Test also offers IEC rated Silicone or PVC jacketed test lead wire), a completed lead can be rated from 12 A to as high as 36 A, depending on the wire used.
