Phihong has expanded its line-up of wall plug Power-over-Ethernet midspans with an IEEE802.3af-compliant unit designated the POE16R-1AFG. The device has an output of 15.4W at 56V DC for applications that include IP phones, access points and portable networking equipment. The wall plug also utilizes the R-Series field-interchangeable AC clips that provide worldwide compatibility.
“This new midspan combines the benefits of using gigabit Base-T data rates with the portability of the market’s smallest PoE wall plug,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. “Users can install and re-install their devices quickly and at their own convenience using the wall plug design, eliminating the need for AC cables.”

The POE16R-1AFG features all the safety features including detection, disconnect and voltage control as outlined in the IEEE802.3af standard and is compliant for UL60950-2. The device has been approved by cUL/UL, CE, SAA and C-Tick and offers over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protections standard.

The wall plug PoE midspan is designed for use with the Phihong R-Series of interchangeable AC clips which are available for North America, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, continental Europe, India, Korea and the United Kingdom. Additionally an IEC C8 clip is available to convert the unit into a two-wire input, desktop-style adapter.

The midspan measures just 80mm by 45mm by 33mm and weighs just 200 grams. Pricing for the wall plug adapter starts at $19.33 in single unit quantities; interchangeable AC clips are sold separately.

Phihong will be exhibiting some of its diverse Power-over-Ethernet options for security installations at the ISC West International Security Conference and Exhibition March 28-30 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
