With the new MX81 series from JAE, Rutronik is expanding its automotive portfolio with compact, unsealed connectors for applications within the vehicle interior and engine compartment. The series is ideal for board-to-cable and inline connections, offers a high current-carrying capacity of up to 10.2 A and operates reliably in a temperature range from -40 to +125 °C. Compatibility with the crimp contacts of the proven MX80 series enables flexible application options while reducing costs.

The MX81 series from Japan Aviation Electronics (JAE) has been specially developed for compact control units, sensors and lighting systems in automobiles. The connectors are available in 2- and 4-pin versions and feature a contact-stable, vibration-resistant design in accordance with USCAR-2.

The identical crimp design of the MX81 connectors and the popular MX80 series is a significant advantage for OEMs and suppliers who combine sealed and unsealed systems. With a contact pitch of 2.54mm, high current-carrying capacity up to 10.2A (depending on the conductor cross-section) and compact dimensions, the series meets the requirements of modern miniature architectures in vehicle construction.

The female and inline-male connectors feature an integrated TPA (Terminal Position Assurance) lock with a hinge mechanism that ensures easy and secure installation. Colour coding also facilitates error-free assignment and reduces installation times.

The compatible through-hole pin headers are made of UL94 V-0-rated material and suitable for reflow soldering processes, making the series ideal for space-critical applications on control boards. Their high vibration resistance and compact design make them the optimal solution for electronic systems in modern vehicle platforms.

Benefits:

  • Compact design with 2- and 4-pole variants
  • High current carrying capacity up to 10.2 A (depending on conductor cross-section)
  • Operating temperature ranges from -40 to +125 °C
  • Compatible with MX80 female terminals (0.64 mm tab size)
  • Plug-in pin headers for reflow soldering
  • Integrated TPA with hinge mechanism
  • Multiple colour coding to prevent incorrect plugging
  • USCAR-2 tested, vibration resistant and RoHS compliant
  • Cost-effective thanks to simplified manufacturing and reduced installation space
