L-com, an Infinite Electronics brand and supplier of connectivity products, has introduced four new lines of fibre optic connectors and adapters. These products are designed to enhance fiber installation performance significantly.

Included in L-com's expanded fibre optic range are SN adapters and connectors (produced by SENKO Advanced Components) and CS adapters and connectors. The SN adapters facilitate the placement of more connectors in limited spaces. The CS adapters feature a mechanism to prevent contamination, ensuring cleaner and clearer fibre lines. SN connectors are tailored for high data rates and compact installations. CS connectors, notable for their space efficiency, potentially double the density of patch panels.

The company's newly designed SN adapters are perfect for cabling providers or equipment manufacturers looking to upgrade to SN hyper-density without needing new panels or hardware. These adapters can double the density of many SC/LC-based systems, reducing the cost per port and enhancing rack-unit revenue efficiency. Options include single-channel (two fibre s), dual-channel (four fibre s), or quad-channel (eight fibre s).

Use cases for the SN adapters range from upgrading SC/LC fibre management hardware to SN, optimizing rack space in Brownfield data centers, to high-density cross-connects and patch panels, and mixed fibre panels with varying connector types.

CS adapters come with automatic shutters to block contamination, a common cause of network failures. They facilitate traceability through a visible light source in the adapter sleeve and are available in single, dual, triple, or quad-channel formats. These adapters are suitable for multiple applications, including data centers, medical environments, wireless and quantum computing, and FTTH.

L-com's SN connectors are engineered for future data rates, allowing for densification of legacy infrastructure and accommodating 400G and beyond. These connectors are compatible with 1.6 mm or 2 mm round cables and feature an integrated push-pull boot for easy use in dense panels. Applications include high-density patching, various transceiver links, hybrid Base-2 cable assemblies, and use in hyperscale, edge, enterprise, and colocation data centers.

The CS connectors, part of the new VSFF Series, are designed for high-density data centers and break-out applications. Offering a 40% size reduction compared to LC duplex, these connectors enable doubled density in patch panels and improved cable management and airflow. They come with 2 mm or 3 mm boots and integrated push-pull tabs.

Paul Hospodar, Product Line Manager, stated: "Our objective with the new SN and CS adapters and connectors is to enhance fibre optic connectivity for our customers, facilitating higher density installations without necessitating additional space or redesigning panels or hardware."
