Connector incorporates special spring terminal for connectivity

A leader in connectivity and sensors, TE Connectivity (TE), unveiled the K-type thermocouple connector at SPS IPC Drives. It incorporates a special spring terminal concept that ensures superior connectivity compared with the traditional screw type termination.

The push-on lock allows easy mating and secure locking, with the unique shape of the metal-locking mechanism preventing unintentional un-mating. The touch-proof design supports an ingress protection rating of IP20. Offering additional design flexibility, the connector supports free-hanging and panel-mounted solutions.

TE’s K-type thermocouple connector combines a space-saving compact design with high reliability. Not only does the high mating retention force prevent unintentional un-mating, but there is also an audible click when the connector is mated; once mated, the spring clamp contact provides a stable contact force. Furthermore, the connector enhances productivity, since the spring clamp solution considerably reduces the time needed to make the wire termination, compared to current screw termination solutions.

The K-type thermocouple connector has an operating temperature range stretching from -20 up to 220°C. Typical applications include semiconductor machinery, injection molding machines, and machine tool equipment.
