Circular connectors eclipse legacy devices

The TriMate rugged circular connectors from AirBorn, a Molex company, are in stock at authorised distributor Mouser Electronics.

These connectors are smaller, lighter, and easier to install than legacy MIL-DTL-38999 connectors while delivering equal or superior performance.

They are designed for demanding aerospace and defence environments, are an ideal choice for radar systems, ground vehicles, training equipment, autonomous equipment, and robotic systems.

The TriMate rugged circular connectors are offered as a traditional 38999-style ratcheting threaded plug, a push-pull plug, and a break-away plug for applications that require quick de-mating.

Each plug type mates with the same receptacle to reduce manufacturing complexity and simplify the bill of materials (BOM).

Electrical connection integrity is vital to safe and successful flights and missions. The TriMate rugged connectors feature MIL-C-39029 contacts and heavy gold plating (0.050 micro-inch) for electrical integrity in harsh, high-vibration environments.

A solid-body pin and socket construction and anti-overstress socket hoods ensure complete reliability.

The TriMate connectors are easy to overmould, providing an improved ergonomic industrial design, and accept standard MIL-DTL-38999 backshells and banding accessories. They are waterproof to MIL-STD-810 and withstand temperatures from -65ºC to +175ºC
