Afumex LSX range expands

Prysmian has expanded its Afumex LSX range to include Three Core 6mm² and Four Core 6mm². The range is designed for power and lighting circuits where a screened, low smoke, halogen free and reduced flame propagation cable is required. Developed and manufactured by Prysmian near Southampton for over twenty years, the ever popular Afumex LSX cable continues to be the choice of installers, designers and clients.

Afumex LSX meets all the requirements of the 17th edition Wiring Regulations for installation in thin walls and partitions and can be used on rack, ladder or tray where traditionally a bulky armoured cable would be installed. Considerable cost-savings can often be made using Afumex LSX as it is smaller and lighter than armoured cables meaning fixings and supports can also be smaller.

Manufactured with Prysmian’s Earthshield safety screen technology, Afumex LSX is additionally tested for 600/1000 V rating by BASEC. It combines a longitudinal aluminium tape screen bonded to the outer sheath in contact with a full size CPC (circuit protective conductor) to achieve the necessary earthable layer.

The dressable construction offers a rigidity and ease of bending which keeps its shape during installation and no ‘springback’. The cable is also easy to strip, significantly reducing the first and second fix termination times when compared with steel wire armoured cable.

As part of Prysmian’s Low Fire-Hazard range, Afumex LSX provides excellent resistance to ignition and flame spread, producing very low levels of smoke and virtually no acidic gases when burnt, safeguarding human life and protecting buildings and equipment.
