Sensor actuator cable flexes 60 million times
igus will be exhibiting its latest sensor actuator cable for tight bending radii at the forthcoming EMO show. The new Chainflex CF98.INI cable is designed for bend radii of 4xd and smaller and has been proven to work even after 60 million cycles, thanks to the use of new cable materials.
New interconnection system for small lighting devices from Tyco Electronics
Tyco Electronics has developed a new interconnection system for the fast growing market for small lighting devices such as LEDs, mini CFLs, OLEDs and mini halogen lamps. A small footprint makes new 7.5mm Mini HVL connectors ideal for lighting applications where small size and easy interconnection are prime requirements, for example shop and household furniture, display cabinets and mountable lighting.
New connector design for easy connection
The new 9175 connector from passive and connectors specialist AVX’s Elco Europe Division, now added to the portfolio of TTI, Inc., allows users to easily connect individual wires to a single row of contacts using IDC technology. Currently available as 2-and 3-way IDC connectors, the device is both low-profile (3.45mm) with a small PCB footprint (2 way: 5.0x2.5mm, 3 way: 7.5x2.5mm), saving precious space on PCBs. A dedicated single-wire insertio...
PoweredUSB cable assemblies from GTK simplify system wiring
Newly available from connector and component manufacturer GTK is a series of PoweredUSB cable assemblies designed for both power and signal applications. PoweredUSB connection systems provide a single cable connection that supplies both the standard USB communication signals and two additional wire pairs for extra power. One of the limitations of standard USB is the amount of +5V current available to supply attached peripherals. This is sufficien...
Latched headers with compliant pin for flat cables
HARTING has introduced a compliant pin version of its SEK (insulation-displacement connection) latched PCB header series for flat cable applications. Designed around standard 2.54 mm x 2.54 mm (0.100 x 0.100 inch) dimensions, the product range includes all standard sizes from 10 to 64 contacts with straight 4.5 mm compliant pins for a PCB thickness from 1.6 mm up to 3.2 mm.
SMT board-to-board connectors permit 4.5mm board spacing
JAE Europe has introduced the IL-WX series of surface mount board-to-board connectors, permitting 4.5mm board spacing for space-constrained products such as precision instrumentation, office equipment and consumer medical devices.
Cylindrical connectors from ITT target entertainment lighting applications
A rugged connector for entertainment lighting applications, the VEAM VSC Series from ITT is a threaded coupling, 19-pin, cylindrical connector. Emphasizing quality and durability, the connectors are sealed to IP 67 when mated, have a black, hard anodized, non-conductive finish for scratch and wear resistance, and feature a heavy-duty, ribbed coupling nut to provide easy mating and un-mating.
Micro-Latch 83513-style connectors from Omnetics save space and weight
Omnetics now has available a full range of Micro-Latch connectors featuring contacts that have been tested to and pass requirements as laid down by MIL-DTL 83513. Featuring housings made of high temperature liquid crystal polymer, the devices save space and weight in critical applications including military and defence, medical and oil and gas.

ITT’s miniature Snaplock power connectors highlighted on Farnell website
ITT’s VEAM Snaplock single pole power connectors will be highlighted on Farnell’s main website before it enters the main catalogue in 2008. Snaplock family connectors take up to 250 Amps and are 30% smaller than VEAM’s Powerlock connectors which are rated at up to 660A. Both families have a similar connection band, giving minimal power loss over 500 mating cycles.
