Schroff has introduced a new hot-swap-capable handle for the insertion and withdrawal of AdvancedTCA carriers and MicroTCA mid-size modules.
Featuring a rugged die-cast metal construction, the IEA handle can be used with stainless-steel or aluminium front panels and conforms to both the AdvancedTCA (PICMG 3.0) and AdvancedMC (AMC.0) specifications.

The AdvancedTCA specification defines two positions for the hot-swap microswitch: in the plunger style, the switch is operated from above, while in the lever style it is activated from the front. The new handle is therefore available in two versions to allow for the correct activation of the switch in both of these standard positions.

Designed to prevent any unintentional release of the board, the handle is attached to the front panel in closed state and can only be operated by pressing the integrated hot-swap button.

The IEA handle has a plastic cover for a comfortable surface feel, and its ergonomic design makes it easy for the user to cope with the AdvancedTCA connector’s high insertion force of roughly 500N per board.

A flat surface on the handle provides space for logos or labels, which can be protected by an optional transparent plastic cover if required.
