Arrow Electronics, in collaboration with Infineon Technologies AG, has unveiled a 240W USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 reference design board, designed to facilitate high-power applications for customers.

This novel design illustrates an example of USB PD 3.1 Extended Power Range (EPR) software and schematic implementation, enabling up to 240W power absorption from a single USB source.

The introduction of this reference design expands the power absorption capabilities of Infineon’s EZ-PD PMG1 series of high-voltage microcontrollers from 140 to 240W. This enhancement is crucial for powering and rapidly charging devices in high-demand sectors such as light electric vehicles (e.g., eBikes, eScooters, and personal mobility devices), drones, mobile robots, professional audio-visual equipment, power tools, medical devices, domestic appliances, and home entertainment systems.

Complementing Infineon's recently introduced USB PD3.1 Source evaluation board REF_XDPS2222_240W1, the 240W Sink reference design board REF_ARIF240WS3 provides design engineers with a leading-edge, comprehensive 240W USB PD3.1 Source-Sink solution.

These reference designs are accessible upon request. Arrow not only supplies these boards but also provides a suite of technical support services, including schematic customisation and PCB adjustments, aimed at optimising customer designs, and accelerating market launch.

Arrow will showcase this new reference design at the embedded world 2024 Fair, scheduled for the 9-11 April 2024, at hall/stand 4A-342.

Furthermore, Arrow Electronics and its engineering subsidiary, eInfochips, support the creation of high-power solutions through Arrow’s engineering solutions center and the newly inaugurated High-Power Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Swindon, United Kingdom.
