In the post-pandemic era, factories are facing multiple challenges in production and manufacturing, including labour and material shortages, rise in labour costs, halts in production. The current automated production lines can no longer keep up with the market competition. However, as this piece from Cervoz reflects, the development and integration of 5G technology, edge computing and AI can bring the greatest impact to the digitisation of smart factories. It will also become one of the driving forces in the server market.

Challenge and requirement

As a perfect server solution, selecting suitable server components to build data centres and servers is the basic requirement. Even with many 5G and AI advances, speed, stability, data security, and low power consumption will be essential for servers building as well. Flash storage and memory for server applications must be fast and reliable, able to effectively process the accumulated and increasing amount of data every minute and second, hence the SSD and memory products with high capacity is much-needed. In addition, the operation of the server is 24/7, and any abnormal power supply or overheating of components in the servers may cause irreparable losses.

High-speed, high capacity and low-power consumption

Based on the latest platform development plan of Intel, the new Cervoz DDR5, in RDIMMs, UDIMMs, and SODIMM, support Intel 12th gen processor. Also, Cervoz DDR5 with dual-channel I/O mode with 32-bit wide channels provides twice the performance of DDR4, as well as improved power efficiency through an on-DIMM 12V voltage regulator and 1.1V I/O. With a dual-channel DIMM topology for higher channel efficiency, it is suited to server and cloud computing applications.

Enhanced endurance and stability for industrial applications

Cervoz industrial-grade NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 SSD features 3D NAND technology with large storage capacities, which offers temperature tolerance from -40 to 85℃.Comparing Cervoz NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 SSD with T405 Gen3x4 SSD, the speed is 3.5 times faster. It greatly benefits server and cloud computing applications.

Featured technologies for server applications

Error-Correcting and Uninterrupted Operation Cervoz Advanced LDPC ECC Engine is an error-correcting mechanism that is far superior to its predecessor, EEC. It can correct more errors per pages, thus sustaining the lifespan of the SSD in servers. Cervoz Powerguard function for flash module is designed to prevent data loss and ensure the stability of data transmission during an unstable power supply situation. It’s definitely a must-to-have technology for server applications.

Solutions to prevent server from overheating

Cervoz offers a feature known as Dynamic Thermal Throttling for flash module products. This mechanism is activated to prevent the SSD from overheating, automatically adjusting SSD performance to cool it down, allowing the SSD continues to perform at optimal levels without declines in performance. Meanwhile, the special fin heatsink design for M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe products can effectively reduce the temperature of the SSD during operation and maintain stable read and write performance.
