The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Alternative Energy Committee is sponsoring a Special Presentation session at APEC 2011 titled “Power Electronics and Alternative Energy.” The session will take place on Thursday afternoon, March 10th, 2011 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas and will feature seven experts from the government, universities and manufacturing industries. The session will include field examples where alternative energy technologies are applied in buildings, computers, electric vehicles, etc. thus providing attendees first-hand insight into real- life applications.
Attendees at this session will be able to support and anticipate changes to the various alternative energy options and the power grid infrastructure. In addition, OEMs, suppliers and system designers will be more aware of alternative energy options to help differentiate their electronics systems and to focus on the appropriate power electronics for the future.

John Bowers of Sandia National Laboratories and Liang Downey of Nextek Power Systems, co-chairs of the PSMA Alternative Energy Committee, stated, “This Special Presentation session will not only be very informative but will also provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals active in the evolving energy generation and “smart grid” markets. We are also encouraging people to register for APEC 2011 and make plans to attend the Special Presentation Session and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.”
