Paige West speaks with Tomide Adesanmi, Co-Founder & CEO, Circuit Mind about his journey from an electronics systems engineer to an innovator reshaping the landscape of electronics design.

Before establishing Circuit Mind, Adesanmi was involved in developing advanced display systems for jet fighter pilots at BAE Systems. However, he found the routine aspects of electronics design overshadowing the creative and inventive parts of his job, dedicating 80% of his time to tasks like poring over datasheets and selecting components, which sparked his drive to innovate.

Circuit Mind was born out of Adesanmi's desire to transform the traditional, tedious process of electronics design into a more efficient, creative, and optimised workflow. The platform aims to drastically reduce the time engineers spend on routine tasks, enabling them to focus on the inventive aspects of design. By using algorithmic software, Circuit Mind facilitates the transition from architecture or block diagram to schematics in an astonishing 60 seconds, addressing several challenges in the electronics design industry.

The traditional approach to component research and schematic capture is both time-consuming and prone to human error, often leading to delays and suboptimal designs. Circuit Mind tackles these issues head-on by offering a solution that streamlines component research, schematic capture, and design optimisation. Engineers can specify requirements and trade-offs, allowing the platform to generate multiple optimised design options quickly. This process not only saves valuable time but also enables a level of design exploration previously unattainable, potentially revolutionising the way electronic circuits are designed.

Integration with existing EDA tools and workflows is seamless, allowing engineers to start with a familiar block diagram interface and export their designs for further refinement. This compatibility ensures that Circuit Mind acts as a complementary tool, enhancing rather than replacing traditional design methods.

The increasing complexity of electronic circuits, driven by advancements in AI, IoT, and 5G technologies, necessitates a new approach to design. Circuit Mind's ability to model and select integrated devices offers a promising solution to this challenge, balancing various design constraints such as power, size, and thermal considerations. The platform empowers engineers to optimise designs based on their specific requirements, fostering innovation and efficiency.

Looking ahead, Adesanmi envisions Circuit Mind becoming an indispensable partner for engineers worldwide, streamlining the design process from architecture to layout. He anticipates a more integrated and collaborative electronics design ecosystem, where tools like Circuit Mind, EDA software, distributors, and manufacturers work together seamlessly.

As the industry continues to evolve, platforms like Circuit Mind will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of electronics design, making it an exciting time for engineers and innovators alike.
