VR tour opens door to Mouser warehouse at electronica

Ever wondered about the process that brings an electronic component to your workplace? Mouser Electronics will show you how at electronica (November 8-11). Visitors to its stand will be able to take a virtual reality (VR) tour of the distributor’s massive 69.677 m2 state-of-the-art warehouse. Attendees will experience 3D 360-degree video displayed on Samsung Gear VR headsets. Simply by moving their heads or turning around, they will see a seamless view of Mouser’s facilities.

Explains Mark Patrick, Supplier Marketing & Business Development Manager, Mouser EMEA, “Mouser is all about supporting and enabling innovation. Virtual reality is a cutting-edge way to tell our story. Effectively, viewers will follow the same process as a component, travelling through all the warehouse processes, from stocking the newest products to pulling, packaging, and shipping orders — taking part in a component’s marvelous journey to their doorstep.”

What′s more, Mouser is giving away thousands of sets of cardboard VR headsets for engineers to take the experience to go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ut7JDfRq18

Adds Patrick: “We’ll be doing more VR videos in the future. Our logistics — specifically, how we manage to ship to 500,000 customers in 170 countries with delivery in typically two to three days with industry-leading accuracy levels — are phenomenal, but there are lots of other stories we can tell, including technology or applications videos. Watch this space!”
