Oxford Quantum Circuits (OQC) recently announced the appointment of Robert Coutts as its CFO. The strategic appointment strengthens OQC’s executive team as it prepares for global expansion and the launch of its quantum computing OQC GENESIS, set for the US later this year.

Coutts brings over a decade of experience in senior financial leadership positions across private and public companies, including notable biotech. Coutts began his career at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant and worked across their audit, transactions, and restructring teams.

His career includes successful private and public capital raises, such as a NASDAQ IPO for Achilles Therapeutics, alongside supporting internaitonal scale-ups.

As CFO, Coutts joins at a key moment as the company prepares to expand into the US and deploy its quantum computer. It recently released an ambitious roadmap that achieves quantum commercial advantage by 2028.

This announcement follows major leadership appointments for OQC. This includes Gerald Mullally as CEO, Sir Jeremy Fleming, former Director of GCHQ, to its Board and Jack Boyer OBE as Board Chairman.

A graduate of Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, Robert now returns to a university spinout that has matured into a globally recognised quantum computing innovator. With operational deployments already in Tokyo and Spain, OQC is uniquely positioned as the only company integrating quantum technology into commercial data centres and delivering Quantum-Compute-as-a-Service across critical industries including finance, security, and defence.

“This is an inflection point for the quantum sector, and I’m excited to join a company at the heart of that transformation. OQC is poised to lead the transition to commercially viable, logical-era quantum computing. I look forward to working with the team to scale globally and shape the financial strategy needed to support this mission,” said Robert Coutts.

“We’re delighted to welcome Robert to OQC. His deep financial expertise and leadership experience will be instrumental as we enter a new phase of commercial growth and product deployment. This appointment reinforces our commitment to building a world-class leadership team capable of delivering on OQC’s global ambitions,” added Gerald Mullally, CEO of OQC.
