In an effort to continue to expand its energy efficiency programs, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency added UPS products to its scope of regulated products. In order to qualify for the ENERGY STAR program, APC UPS units met the world’s most stringent energy efficiency standards. APC largely reduces the cost of energy use while further increasing the products’ energy efficiency based upon innovative energy saving features and highly efficient UPS design.
APC has long been advocates of UPS products with green energy, efficiency and innovation. The fact that UL awarded the first UPS product ENERGY STAR certificate for APC demonstrates its determination to pursue sustainable development and is also testimony of its long-term strategy in the field of energy efficiency, said Michael Shows, global business manager for energy efficiency, UL Verification Services.
In recent years, UL has been accelerating the expansion the testing and certification in the field of energy efficiency services and capabilities, including the extension to UPS products, which also help enhance the authority and popularity of the ENERGY STAR program and advocacy of energy saving and environmental protection. Focused on the UPS ENERGY STAR program, UL started a multi-dimensional research effort from staff training and instrument validation test report formulation, to certification plan research and actual testing operations. On August 1st, 2012, UL unveiled its research findings to the market for the first time.
“As a global leader in energy efficiency certification, UL believes that advanced energy efficiency functions will help improve the core competitiveness of a company and its product. In the future, UL will continue to cooperate with UPS product manufacturers including APC and provide integrated and comprehensive solutions,” Shows added.
