3M will present its portfolio of innovative and practical touch screen gaming products at the International Casino Exhibition in London, Stand 3570. Highlights include the MicroTouch Capacitive TouchSense System and enhanced MicroTouch ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screen technology from 3M with wide screen options to meet the display requirements of gaming manufacturers.
Heralded by many industry leaders as the “next great thing” for casino slot gaming, the MicroTouch Capacitive TouchSense System allows players to enjoy a more immersive experience. Traditionally, casino slot games have relied on audio and visual cues for interactive game play but now, with the release of tactile touch technology from 3M, players can also “feel the game.” By targeting the combination of these three senses, game designers can now develop games that are more realistic and engaging to keep players on the slot machines for longer. 3M Touch Systems is working with leading game manufacturers to bring these new multi-sensory games to casino floors in 2008.

The MicroTouch Capacitive TouchSense System combines the robust and reliable MicroTouch ClearTek II capacitive touch sensor and MicroTouch EX II electronics with TouchSense tactile feedback technology from Immersion Corporation.

Alongside the above, 3M will display wide aspect ratio MicroTouch ClearTek II Capacitive Touch Screens in sizes ranging from 7” to 32” to highlight the possibilities that larger wide-screen displays offer in terms of an exciting on-screen experience.

ClearTek II is already one of the toughest and most popular capacitive touch screens on the market. To reinforce its technology and market position, 3M works continuously to further improve performance, durability and wear resistance. The latest generation ClearTek II touch screens feature an additional hard coating, to protect them from contaminants, abrasion and general wear from continuous touches to the same spot on the screen. This coating has been tested and documented to be at least five times more resistant to wear than competitive capacitive alternatives.
