Sony appoints MVD Ltd to lead UK machine vision market expansion

Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions division has appointed MVD Ltd as a distributor for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland with the aim of expanding the market for the company’s full range of machine vision camera modules. With immediate effect, MVD Ltd, a Sony Vision Network Partner, becomes lead distributor for the region.
“The UK is an extremely important market for Sony Image Sensing Solutions and throught our new partnership with MVD Ltd we are putting new emphasis on the region,” said Can Asiltürk, European Account Manager, Sony Image Sensing Solutions. “We are proud to be working with MVD and look forward to having them support our machine vision products and deliver the backing that our customers need to accelerate their designs with Sony.”

Sony will be exhibiting on the MVD booth, No. 2302, at IPOT 2008, at the NEC in Birmingham next month. Sony’s latest digital machine vision cameras, including six IEEE1394.b modules, a high-end Camera Link model and a new generation of its successful Smart Camera range will be featured.



The highlight will be Sony’s new XCD-U100/CR B&W and raw colour camera modules with UXGA resolution at 15 fps, offering Sony CCD technology for incomparable image quality and superb build quality. The XCD-U100/CR forms the cornerstone of Sony’s new family of IEEE1394.b CCD digital camera modules that will range from VGA to UXGA resolutions, 15 to 90 frames per second, and offer both colour and black & white configuration options.



Sony’s heritage in IEEE1394 technology dates back to 1994, and the latest products make the most of the IEEE1394.b standard which features high bandwidth, multi-camera capabilities and the flexibility to realise complex, long cable configurations.
