Siano Mobile Silicon (www.siano-ms.com), leading supplier of Mobile Digital TV receiver chips, announced today its newly established operations in Brazil. Heading the office is Mr. Pompilio Roselli, a veteran with over 15 years of experience and proven successes in the domestic telecommunications market. Mr. Roselli has been named Siano’s General Manager for the entire Latin America (LATAM) region.
As an established leader in most regions of the world where Mobile Digital TV is deployed, Siano has successfully penetrated the Latin American market, which has more than 300 million potential users eagerly waiting to enjoy the digital revolution of TV-on-the-go. Today, as an established player in the region, Siano’s products are powering consumer electronics devices and cellular terminals, shipped to Brazil’s top mobile operators Claro, VIVO and TIM, as well as to Argentina and Chile.

The company continues to strengthen its market leadership in Latin America through the introduction of new and innovative products, as well as through forging partnerships with mobile operators, handset makers, and computer and GPS manufacturers to help expand the reach of mobile TV. Siano enables the various manufacturers to offer consumers a high performance, affordable platform to watch TV anytime, anywhere, reinforcing a new form of media entertainment and information in a region known for its special affection of soccer and soap operas.

Siano also formally unveiled today a new mobile TV receiver chip, optimized for Latin America (and Japan) - the SMS2130, a complete ISDB-T 1-segment receiver chip. Siano’s SMS2130 is designed to meet the special requirements of the Latin American spectrum, by introducing extended immunity to tough multi-path field conditions, providing superior reception in deep indoor locations and excellent mobility performance for cellular devices, even while traveling at high speeds.
“With the introduction of new, state-of-the-art receiver products, Siano’s mission is to help the industry in Brazil and its neighboring countries establish a new behavior pattern for viewers, enabling them to carry their favorite TV programming on-the-go, whether they are in the street, at a shopping mall, restaurant, hairdresser or even at home,” said Pompilio Roselli, General Manager of Siano Latin America. “It also means the rise of a new reality for advertising agencies and advertisers, who will be able to reach their audiences no matter where they are,” added Roselli.

“Brazil is an exquisite combination of being the world’s third highest growing country in TV-ads, a 189-million nation of sports and soap opera fans, and a phenomenal growing market for mobile subscribers,” said Alon Ironi, Siano’s CEO. “With a flourishing economy and a rapidly growing base of mobile phone and portable computer users, Brazil is fertile ground for a rapidly expanding mobile TV market,” added Ironi, who is participating today in a seminar about the potential of MDTV in Brazil. The seminar marks the official launch of Siano’s operations in Brazil.

Siano possesses vast experience with helping developing MDTV in other emerging markets. In China the company achieved its leadership in a market that has shown a phenomenal growth of over 10 million MDTV users in two years. Siano brings this experience to the Latin American market, and collaborates with the rest of the key players in order to ensure a successful experience to the consumers.
