The global defence and security company, Saab AB, presented new virtual simulators at the International Exhibition of Defence and Security Technologies (IDET) held in Brno May 10-13.
Saab showcased virtual simulators for both civil and military use, with the later in service with the Czech army for many years. These simulators are produced by E-COM – a Moravian company based in Slavkov u Brna, which Saab acquired in February 2011. E-COM‘s new virtual simulators for the Pandur armoured vehicle went on public display for the first time during IDET 2011.

“Now Saab can offer a complete solution for training and simulation to the customer with financial savings and customization capabilities as added value,“ Jindřich Špringl, head of Saab Czech s.r.o., said.
The simulator for Pandur is among the latest additions in E-COM's portfolio.

The south Moravian technology company has delivered many different simulators to the Czech army and has achieved export success to customers in the US, Germany, and Singapore. The acquisition of assets of E-COM enhance Saab’s offering within the area of virtual simulation, enabling Saab to provide customers with a more comprehensive product offer. Saab is planning to develop E-COM's facilities into its international base of training and simulation.

Saab has a significant presence in the Czech Republic, with more than 120 employees. Saab’s supersonic fighter aircraft, Gripen, is in service with the Czech Air Force. The company’s artillery locator radar system, Arthur, has been selected by the Czech army, and Saab has also been selected to provide public security systems for the Prague metro.
