Micrium, the real time operating system (RTOS) provider for embedded systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), has formally announced that its new µC/OS for Makers programme will launch next week on 23rd February.

“The reality is that many projects start in people’s homes or pre-revenue organisations where ideas are plentiful but financial resources are not,” said Jean Labrosse, President and CEO of Micrium. “Micrium was founded because of my own frustrations with the RTOSes available and a desire to bring clean, well documented and high performance software to the embedded industry. Offering our proven, commercial RTOS at no cost for makers and start-ups is a natural extension of our commitment to quality and training that has long guided our organisation.”

µC/OS for Makers allows engineers to design-in Micrium’s RTOS at no cost. It’s comes with extensive documentation, sample projects and support videos. µC/OS is well suited to all embedded vertical markets, with some certifiable to meet rigorous safety critical standards for industries such as medical electronics, avionics and industrial products.
