RS Components today announced the exclusive launch of the world’s smallest digital humidity sensor, the Sensirion SHT-21. Samples of the ground-breaking digital Relative Humidity and Temperature (RH&T) sensor are in stock at RS warehouses around the world now.
The ultra small SHT-21 digital RH&T sensor from Sensirion integrates calibration memory and a digital interface in to an extremely small 3x3mm footprint. The humidity sensor provides electronic read-out of tracking information while the complete over-moulding of the senor chip – with the exception of the humidity sensor area – protects the humidity and temperature sensor against external impact and leads to excellent stability against aging, shock and volatile chemicals.

Andrea Orzati, International Sales Director of Sensirion commented: “The SHT-21 is a ground breaking product setting new standards in miniaturization for this class of sensor. By making it available through RS, we are offering customers the opportunity to order a sample on line and have it on their bench the next day. RS is a key channel for us in taking innovative technologies like this to market.”

Jonathan Boxall, Semiconductor and Test & Measurement Business Manager at RS Components said: “We are seeing continued and growing interest in ‘smart metering’ and associated industrial and residential control systems. Consequently, the use of environmental sensors is also increasing, and the addition of this exceptionally highly integrated and compact RH&T sensor to our product line will definitely help our customers develop smarter systems that provide greater functionality with improved accuracy.”

The Sensirion SHT-21 is exclusive to RS until the end of August.
