IF you design power conversion solutions into your own electronics products, Vicor’s stand at electronica 2010 is a must. You can check out the latest power conversion products to give your designs the leading edge.
Amongst the Vicor’s displays are the smallest ac/dc converter on the market and also the smallest isolated dc/dc converter available. There’s also its brand new Mil-COTS VI Brick filter and a host of demonstrations in a variety of applications including LED lighting and computing.

Notably, as we go to press, Vicor has just launched its new on-line store at www.vicorpower.com/cms/home/company/VicorStore for engineers to purchase in prototype quantities. And that’s a great, cost-effective way of getting power system designs underway even faster than before. With its manufacturing capabilities, Vicor can supply products configured to exact specifications and delivered in days rather than weeks. And that includes Brick based power conversion solutions, V•I chips and Picor products, accessories and evaluation boards.

Vicor’s new Mil-COTS VI Brick filter comes standalone or integrated with the PRM regulator module. This integrated filter is a 95% efficient non-isolated regulator capable of boosting and bucking a wide range of inputs over 16.5~50Vdc, delivering outputs up to 120W. It’s smaller than the competition says the company, whilst complying with Mil-Std-1275A/B/D and 704A-F for transients, and Mil-Std-461E/F for EMI.

The Brick filter is a separate dc front end module that provides EMI filtering and transient protection. Designers using Vicor’s Mil-COTS VI Brick and V•I Chip PRMs can now meet conducted emission and susceptibility to Mil-Std-461E/F and input transients to Mil-Std-704A/E/F and 1275A/B/D. It measures up at 48.6x27.7x9.5mm.

The new Mil-COTS VI Brick filter is specifically designed to provide a controlled factorised bus distribution voltage for powering downstream VI Brick VTM current multipliers that are fast, efficient, isolated, low noise point of load converters. In combination with its VI Brick PRMs and VTMs form a complete dc/dc converter sub-system with all the benefits of Vicor’s Factorized Power Architecture. Applications typically include military ground vehicle and airborne systems.
And on a final note, check out the Vicor website at www.vicoreurope.com/electronica2010 where you can enter and win a prize, even if you won’t be at the show, in its electronica Power Jar Competition.
