SpiderDuo provides complete flexibility for real-world applications. Its network connection enables remote users to control a computer as if it were right in front of them, while the local port allows that computer to be jointly viewed and controlled with a local keyboard, video and mouse. SpiderDuo’s dual capability is ideal for point-of-sale, kiosk, ATM, campus or other environments where the device is in active local use, but maintained by distant IT staff. Remote management capabilities reduce the need for costly technician dispatches to maintain the equipment.
An optional power control unit (PCU) is available for the SpiderDuo, providing the ability to remotely control the power to the attached PC, server or other device. This feature is unique in the market, as software-only solutions require the remote computer to be constantly powered up, consuming many kilowatts of energy per day. In support of an environmentally-conscious world, the SpiderDuo allows the PC to be in sleep mode or even powered down with the attached PCU.
The product also includes Lantronix’ patent pending VIP (virtual IP) Access™ technology, which allows for seamless integration with the company’s remote services enablement platform, ManageLinx™. Using ManageLinx, service providers can securely access firewall-protected equipment without disturbing the existing security infrastructure.
Jerry Chase, CEO of Lantronix, said: “The SpiderDuo is a very versatile and exciting addition to the Spider family of products. The advanced features of local port, power cycling, IPv6 and VIP Access provide an unmatched remote control experience. SpiderDuo will greatly reduce the need for expensive service calls and significantly improve uptime performance for businesses.”
