Continuing strong demand for Jenoptik lasers used in medical technology. Jenoptik is in international demand as a supplier in the area of lasers and material processing.
Jenoptik’s Lasers & Material Processing division has been awarded a new order to supply lasers for medical technology. The diode lasers, with an order volume of 2.7 million US dollars, will be delivered during the course of this year to a client in the Mediterranean region. The foundation for the contract which has now been signed was laid at the LASER World of PHOTONICS Trade Fair held in Munich from May 23 to 26 this year.

The order is for diode laser stacks – multiple laser elements stacked on top of each other, a compact design producing a high output power – used for laser applications in the field of medical technology. The diode laser stacks are based on a new diode laser module with integrated qcw stack that was developed for industrial, military and medical applications and which offers significant handling advantages, primarily thanks to the extremely low weight. This gives rise to the expectation that Jenoptik will be able to markedly increase sales in a consolidated market segment in future.

Jenoptik is one of the few providers worldwide able to mass produce the entire technology chain for laser beam sources – from the semiconductor material to the diode laser, through to the solid state lasers – in high unit quantities and to the high standard of quality and process reliability required for applications in the medical field.
