Imagination Technologies, a leading multimedia chip technologies company, reports that connected radio portal technologies developed initially for the internet-connected products of its PURE division will enable new radio features on the O2 Joggler. The O2 Joggler is an electronic hub for the home featuring digital photo viewer, news, weather and traffic reports, music and video player and calendar. A subset of the Lounge internet radio service (www.thelounge.com) has been adapted specifically for the O2 Joggler to deliver a hand picked selection of the most popular UK BBC and commercial radio stations, making those stations available through a simple and accessible ‘family friendly’ interface.
Says Tony King-Smith, VP marketing, Imagination Technologies: “Software technologies are critical for the success of our silicon IP and much of our success is predicated on the strength of our software platforms. Now for the first time we have started to license our Internet portal platform. We expect this new form of licensing to be a growing, strategically significant, part of our business and highly complementary to our silicon IP business.”

Sally Cowdry, O2 Marketing Director said: “Internet Radio will transform the experience for O2 Joggler customers and with PURE we are partnering with the market leading provider. PURE’s parent company, Imagination, has delivered this capability in an easy-to-use interface which brings the UK’s most popular radio stations onto the device.”

The Lounge (www.thelounge.com) made its debut in 2008 as the bespoke radio and media portal for PURE’s Flow range of internet-connected products, the UK’s best selling range of DAB/ internet radios. Existing O2 Joggler customers will also be able to benefit from a subset of the Lounge as the service will be provided as an automatic update.
