Atmel Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML), a leader in microcontroller and touch solutions, today announced that Fujitsu has selected the Atmel maXTouch solution to power the touchscreen for docomo's REGZA Phone T-01C touchscreen.
Based on the Android platform, the new REGZA phone T-01C is developed by Fujitsu and sold exclusively by Japan-based NTT docomo. Fujitsu selected the Atmel mXT224 touch controller because of its robust features including multi-touch, low-power consumption and better touch response.

Fujitsu's docomo REGZA phone T-01C is a smartphone featuring a stunning 12.2-megapixel camera, 4-inch touchscreen, TV, infrared communications, 720p video recording, GSM, Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi. The new device is also equipped with the Mobile REGZA Engine 3.0, an engine based on the super-resolution technology employed in Toshiba REGZA LCD TVs, that is optimized for smartphones. This feature enables users to watch TV, YouTube(TM) and other videos on their mobile devices in high-quality resolution.

Atmel maXTouch solution provides docomo REGZA T-01C smartphone users' 10-simultaneous touches, 3x better power consumption than industry's best, and much faster response times. The smartphone combines conventional and fun features that have been requested by their users including a water resistant touchscreen, infrared communications and a 12.2-megapixel high-definition camera with high-vision video recording.

We are excited to help Fujitsu bring an innovative smartphone powered by Atmel's maXTouch solution to the Japanese market, said Jon Kiachian, sr. director of touch marketing, Atmel Corporation. This design is further testament that Atmel continues to enable new, innovative touch devices with maXTouch solutions inside to worldwide markets.
