Evatronix SA has announced today the next generation of its JPEG 2000 solution that achieves smooth image processing at much higher resolutions. The JPEG 2000 solution from Evatronix can now satisfy the requirements of demanding Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI 2K) and Full High Definition TV (HDTV) applications by providing designers with 24p or 30p frame rate, respectively, as defined by these standards.
/> Evatronix JPEG 2000 IP has evolved into a top performer thanks to many improvements implemented in the key modules of the core. The new 2D-DWT engine and an additional channel of the EBCOT TIER-1 algorithm not only provide support for real time processing of DCI 2K and Full HD images, but also enable coding of stereoscopic 720p HD signal on-the-fly in the most demanding 4:4:4 sub-sampling scheme.

Further performance improvements are achieved by several IP configuration options that facilitate tailoring of the JPEG 2000 IP to the developer’s application. Evatronix JPEG 2000 IP targets the more and more popular, but demanding DCI 2K and Full HD standards. Still, it remains compliant with other popular HDTV, SDTV and CCTV systems.

“By using proprietary optimization techniques implemented in critical algorithms of our IP cores we have been able to join the first tier of JPEG 2000 solution providers in less than two years,” said Wojciech Sakowski, Evatronix CEO. “Support for DCI 2K, Full HD and stereoscopic HD broadens the already wide range of applications for our JPEG 2000 solution and secures its leading place in the multimedia market.”
