McElroy, an industry veteran, joined Esterel after long-term employment with I-Logix Inc., and then Telelogic North America as a result of Telelogic’s acquisition of I-Logix. For over 18 years McElroy has been engaged in the development of real-time embedded system and software applications with particular emphasis on the advancement of model-driven development for real-time embedded applications. In addition to his most recent Business Development position, McElroy also held the position of Director of Product Marketing for the highly successful Rhapsody® product line from Telelogic. McElroy will now strive to extend the acceptance of model-driven development for mission and safety-critical applications by concentrating on the Esterel SCADE Suite™ and SCADE Display™ product lines, the Esterel customer base, and the Esterel Partner Ecosystem.
“Jim’s experience in the industry combined with his knowledge of the embedded software market will greatly enhance our ability to deliver the products and services our customer’s need in their mission and safety-critical application development under standards such as DO-178B, EN 50128, and IEC 60880”, said Eric Bantegnie, CEO of Esterel Technologies.
“Model-driven development has now moved to mainstream because of the benefits developers have realized such as faster time-to-market, better documentation, higher quality products, and overall increased developer productivity”, McElroy describes. “Now those same benefits can and will be applied to mission and safety-critical application development as more companies understand the value model-driven development can bring to those applications that either require certification or have low or no tolerance for defects. We firmly believe Esterel’s momentum and strong reference base will help springboard the company and our products to new levels of success and acceptance, globally”.
