Display Solutions’ partner in digital signage, Lanner, has been given official SCALA approval for its LEC-7900D platform. Martin Whitehead leads the technical team at Display Solutions and has been working with the hardware specialist analysing the benefits. “Lanner has achieved a range of digital signage solutions that offers both stability and longevity with wide ranging capabilities from a 720p low power processor to a dual core processor capable of driving 2 or 3 simultaneous but independent displays.
Approval from SCALA indicates a certain level of performance, robustness and reliability which software developers can take as the highest indicator of a competent product. We’ve already designed in a system that takes advantage of its dual VGA output with signal transmission distances up to 50 metres, this is something that cannot be done with DVI to VGA conversion..

“While the digital signage market continues to expand our remit is to work with suppliers of the calibre and commitment of Lanner to provide a differentiator that makes software delivery as seamless and efficient as possible. The projects we are working on draw heavily on the need for greater flexibility and long term support and availability, in hardware, whether that is to support graphic intensive files such as Flash or in allocating particular content to a particular area of a display, to be monitored and uploaded remotely.”
