Diodes Incorporated Wins Environmental Awareness Award in the United Kingdom

Diodes Incorporated has received the ‘Environmental Awareness’ award from the UK’s National Microelectronics Institute (NMI). The award was presented at NMI’s prestigious annual awards’ dinner held in London.

In making the presentation, Derek Boyd, CEO of NMI said, Diodes has established and executed an ambitious plan to reduce its carbon footprint by 50%. The Company is a great supporter of NMI’s Utilities’ Best Practice Groups and has consistently engaged with Carbon Trust funded projects to improve energy efficiency. Diodes has implemented a wide range of projects including one that utilises free cooling which will reduce running costs by £200,000 per year. Diodes has created a ‘Green Team’ within its workforce and will continue to push forward with new initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.

Receiving the award, Neil McCallion, Facilities Manager at Diodes Incorporated said, This award recognises a company-wide commitment to addressing environmental issues and the hard work of the entire workforce in undertaking initiatives both large and small. Achieving a reduction in the carbon footprint of Diodes’ semiconductor wafer fabrication plant in Oldham, UK of more then 53% in less than four years is an achievement of which the Company is very proud.
