In recent decades, the internet has seen a host of major milestones, but few have achieved the rapid success of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI.

ChatGPT has achieved a remarkable milestone by amassing one million users in record time, surpassing Netflix by over 250 times. This impressive feat speaks to its effectiveness and popularity as a leading AI language model in the industry.

Recent data collected by Blockchain Centre has revealed that ChatGPT has achieved a truly remarkable milestone. In a mere 5 days, the artificial intelligence platform has amassed an incredible one million user base, an achievement that took Netflix a staggering 1,278 days to accomplish. In other words, ChatGPT has outpaced Netflix by a remarkable 255 times in terms of user acquisition speed.

This outstanding achievement has solidified ChatGPT’s position as a premier AI language model in the industry. Despite its relatively short existence, its popularity has continued to rise, as evidenced by the Google Trends score for the keyword ‘ChatGPT.’ It surged to a 100-point score Worldwide on 19th March.

This is the highest score the keyword has ever recorded, and it represents a significant increase from its score of one point in November 2022.

Upon examining the data, it becomes apparent that the interest in the keyword ‘ChatGPT’ has shown a significant increase as well in a short while since its inception. Before the date of the chatbot’s release, on 27th November, the keyword ranked at only one point, but it surged to 20 points on 20th December.

It continued to increase steadily until it reached a high of 100 points in March of this year. The surge in interest in ChatGPT can be directly attributed to the launch of its latest model, GPT-4, which was unveiled earlier this month

When comparing ChatGPT’s user base growth rate to other major companies, the platform’s superiority becomes even more evident. For instance, it took Airbnb 730 days to onboard one million members, a rate that is 146x slower than ChatGPT’s.

Facebook, on the other hand, showed a growth rate 60x slower than ChatGPT, taking 304 days to reach the same milestone. Even the companies placing second and third — Instagram and iPhone — fall far behind ChatGPT, with a user base growth rate 15x slower. Notably, in just two months after launching, ChatGPT, the popular artificial intelligence chatbot, reached a 100 million user base.

The uniqueness of the model

The substantial contribution of ChatGPT’s popularity is attributed to the general hype over the artificial intelligence industry, as well as its user-friendly nature. Unlike other AI technologies, the chat bot was one of the first to be accessible to the public in a comprehensible manner. What sets GPT apart is its ability to generate outputs that are easily understood by humans instead of simply producing code or data.

In contrast to search engines like Google, ChatGPT can engage in conversations, providing human-like responses and dialogue to users. It can be requested to generate a resignation letter, class discussion prompts, and even student tests.

There is an ongoing debate about the future influence of ChatGPT, which is thought to rely on the speed and efficacy with which businesses adopt and incorporate the technology into their operations. Nonetheless, ChatGPT and other similar AI programs are expected to have a considerable impact on the future of business.

ChatGPT possesses the potential to be a game-changer in the business world. By automating mundane tasks, offering instant data analysis, accommodating multiple languages, and enhancing data precision, ChatGPT has the potential to revolutionise the allocation of time and resources.

The remarkable growth and popularity of ChatGPT, evidenced by its record-breaking user acquisition rate and Google Trends score, solidifies its position as a leading language model in the industry and a potential game-changer in the future of business.
