Korean handset makers are continuing to develop smartphones that address the local and worldwide touch phones. The Atmel maXTouch solution has enabled us to push ahead of our competitors with better performance, faster response time and stylus support for character writing, said Jung Hee Park, Principal Research Engineer, Pantech. Pantech selected maXTouch solutions because of its proven performance to offer our users a better experience with our IZAR, VEGA and EASE smartphones.
The Pantech IZAR supports the Android 2.1 platform (with options to upgrade to the Andriod platform 2.2), WiFi, Bluetooth and uses a T-DMB TV tuner for streaming mobile TV, while the VEGA, launched exclusively in Korea, is the lightest Android phone with a 3.7 display. The Pantech EASE includes a multi-touch screen and pull-out keyboard available with AT&T service.
Our multiple design wins with Pantech and other top handset manufacturers worldwide are a testament to our maXTouch technology, said Jon Kiachian, senior director of touch marketing, Atmel Corporation. We continue to drive the latest touch innovation in small and large touchscreens with our maXTouch technologies that feature unlimited touch capability, stylus support, lower power consumption and faster response time.
