Small units with huge potential: thanks to the new Z-Wave Alliance member Fibaro, intelligent homes can now be achieved with millimetre-sized components. Fibaro manufactures the smallest flush-mounted home automation modules for built-in boxes available on the market: Fibaro wall inserts can be used to transform any series of switches into switches or dimmers controlled wirelessley by Z-Wave technology without the need for the complex installation of components or the replacement of switches that are expensive due to their advanced design. As a result, lighting, roller shutters and similar devices can also be controlled remotely by users by means of a smartphone, tablet or PC.
The small, new Fibaro modules, which are compatible with all switch series and all designs, allow users to control lighting in their homes using Z-Wave technology, as the already installed switches do not need to be replaced; they are in fact just supplemented by a tiny insert placed behind, for example, a light or roller shutter switch. This small component offers the ability to control lighting and other devices remotely via an iPhone or via a Z-Wave remote control, although it is, of course, still possible to use the actual switch.

Fibaro provides the only system on the market that is able to control LED or fluorescent lighting in environments without a neutral conductor. Entertainment devices, such as televisions, can also be connected via Fibaro in order to activate, for example, a television-light scenario in which the lighting is dimmed to a 30% level when the user starts watching television.

Moving? Fibaro can accompany you…
Following installation, the modules are not permanently fixed to the building infrastructure, so the whole wireless system can be easily taken along in the event of the user moving to a new home. All the modules can be simply removed from the wall and reaffixed in a new location. Thanks to the integrated Z-Wave mesh technology, newly incorporated modules are updated immediately in order to ensure smooth “cooperation” with other Z-Wave system components already installed in the home.

Monitoring switch operations by video via an iPhone
The Fibaro system also offers flexible user control, as the modules which communicate via gateway are compatible with most smartphones on the market and can therefore be controlled remotely from any location. By using Z-Wave technology, the system can interoperate with over 500 other wireless products from major manufacturer. IP cameras can also be linked through the gateway with Fibaro components, thus allowing switch operations, such as closing of roller shutters, to be monitored remotely by video.

Simple installation
The system can be installed very easily and does not require the laying of endless cables. The prerequisite for the Fibaro Z-Wave solution is that a built-in box with a depth of 60mm is available or that a wall switch with an installation depth of less than 25mm is available in a built-in box with a depth of 35mm. The Fibaro flush-mounted inserts have a height of 15mm, but only occupy half the area of a conventional wall-mounted outlet.
