The Telit GSM HE910 module, which was chosen for the company’s base stations, meets these requirements by offering a location accuracy of less than 2.5m and GPS co-ordinates that provide activity level information. The module also meets the Australian Koala Foundation’s requirements for a solution with a small physical profile and low power consumption.
Due to the deforestation of eucalyptus forests, koalas have become a threatened species. This deforestation has made koalas vulnerable, with approximately 4000 of the 100,000 national population being killed by dogs and cars each year.
