Laird Technologies today announced the release of its new asset tracking World cellular and GPS band antenna. The World antenna is a high-performance cellular and GPS antenna that supports AMPS, GSM, PCS and DCS bands and is ground plane independent. This cost-effective antenna transmits voice and data while providing superior RF performance versus any comparable antenna on the market.
Providing low total-cost implementation and easy installation, the antenna’s compact form factor is suited for concealed applications inside of a vehicle, but can also be used externally. Multiple mounting options allow the sleek, durable housing to be mounted on either a ground plane or non-ground plane surface. It is ideal for fleet logistics, tracking, diagnostics, theft protection, asset recovery, and navigation and infotainment systems.

“The World antenna integrates several of our core technologies and really sets a new standard for RF reception for proper fleet management, tracking, and diagnostics,” said Jim Ciccarelli, Laird Technologies Product Manager, Telematics & Wireless M2M. “The antenna provides industry-leading RF performance in a small form factor but is capable enough to be embedded in instrument panels.”

The World band GSM/GPS antenna meets enhanced environmental specifications and is weather resistant with an IP-67 Ingress Protection rating. As with all Laird Technologies telematics products, it has gone through a rigorous validation process including, RF characterization, on the state-of-the-art vehicle test range located in Holly, Michigan.
